If you need HVAC services, this is the place. I compared a few for pricing and not only they gave me most reasonable pricing, the team was amazing. May 2024: My old boiler required changing and after getting several quotes from heating companies, I made a decision to go with A Degree Above Heating and Cooling, LLC for three reasons: 1. Price 2. Professionalism and 3. Punctuality.

Price - A Degree Above had the best price amongst the quotes I received and provided a detailed quote write up. I also inquired on another boiler brand and Anthony from A Degree Above quickly provided a quote on the second option I was considering. It was nice to have both detailed quotes in writing for a full comparison.

Professionalism: The technicians were knowledgeable, respectful and upon entering my home took the time to put on shoe covers and left the place tidy and clean when the job was completed. Anthony and Lou also took the time to answer all my questions about the different boiler brands efficiencies and warranties.

Punctuality: The team (Lou, Paul, Jared) showed up on time to inspect the job for the initial quote and also when the job started. The team worked efficiently and there were no loud noises when the team was working.

Overall, I was extremely happy with the job and service provided by A Degree Above Plumbing and Heating, LLC and would recommend this company to friends and neighbors.

We had A Degree Above replace our AC/gas furnace 4 years ago and it was such an easy process. A few weeks ago, we had an issue with the thermostat and wiring, they came out quickly and made sure to fix the problem. I love how they have an automated service that texts you about appointments and even sends a picture of the technician that's coming. Highly recommend!

Each year it's been regular maintenance but in December (and trickling over into January) we experienced a larger challenge with our heating system, in particular when it was extremely cold outside. The gentlemen who came to our house were very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. When the issue we were having wasn't fully resolved, the owner personally texted me at 6:30 a.m. after I had left a voicemail on the recording machine the night before. He showed up at my house first thing in the morning and stayed until the issue was resolved, and even followed up via text later in the day to ensure all was functioning properly. We always recommend Lou and the A Degree Above team to anyone who is looking for a reputable, honest, hard-working HVAC company.

Lou and his team handled our emergency situation professionally, promptly and safely. We didn't feel like were being ripped off. We got 4 quotes, and this company acted the best during the estimate, and gave us the best rate for our boiler replacement. They were very respectful of our home too. Loved how they laid out tarps to keep our home clean and even swept surrounding areas in case of excess dirt or dust. Also really like how they labeled valves. Very professional company and provides great insight! A big plus, we were able to keep our dog inside the house when they were here. I'm not a good writer but I felt compelled to say something about Lou and his outstanding team. I hired them to install 2 high efficiency ductless air conditioning units in my home and they were simply exceptional. I am personally in the plumbing field and their work was beautiful. But besides that, I really appreciated that they answered the phone, provided an estimate promptly, showed up when they said they would, were polite and took care of my home. It feels like that should be expected, but I guess not from dealing with contractors in general. I left them alone in my home because I had to go to work and when I came home it was cool!!

I just had Lou come out and work on diagnosing and repairing both of my AC Units. Lou was truly a Godsend. He came on time, spent time to go through both the units, gave me his honest advice and opinion and left me with a more than reasonable repair bill. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this because whenever you call companies, you feel like everyone is out there to rip you off! We've used A Degree Above on numerous occasions when we were maintaining an older unit. Every single time we've called them for service, they came on time and were quick to diagnose the issue. The first time was for a blown capacitor. It was a quick fix and a low cost fix. Never ONCE got an upsell. Just the honest truth and diagnosis and fix. The second time was when a squirrel had climbed down the exhaust vent and gotten stuck and died. Again, they came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it charging a VERY reasonable fee.

I love the whole crew. They're quick, honest and fix your problems and leave. In a sea of slimy tradespeople, A Degree Above is a breath of fresh air.

These guys are the best around. They have done numerous service calls for me both on the heating system and air conditioning system along with an install of a brand new unit on the first floor. My most recent experience with A Degree Above was today when I came home to see the thermostat reading 82 degrees. They had a technician on site in one hour on a feel like temperature of 102 degrees outside. Took care of the issue quickly and had the unit back up and running. Paul & Jared from A Degree Above fixed our furnace, which didn't ignite properly. They were very efficient. They kept me posted via text and arrived a little earlier than scheduled, which was good. They identified the issue quickly, repaired it and suggested ways to keep it from happening again (like changing the filter more frequently). Both gentlemen were very polite and customer friendly, a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend A Degree Above Heating & Cooling and will definitely call them again if I need repairs.

"A couple months ago, upon the discovery of my furnace missing a filter slot, I scrambled high and low to find someone in Bergen county to fix this. I was not having much luck as some had long waiting lists and some don't handle stuff like this. Luckily I came across A Degree Above through yelp(where else?) Lou and Danny were great, they dropped in that day that worked for me to take a look at it even though they were booked that day. They took their time explaining the many options, how the airducts worked and even pointed out how so some pipes of the furnace was not right but it's a easy fix. They were not pushy at all and took extreme care in taking down or measurements. They then told us they'll send us an estimate in a few days after looking into the best option for us. Danny sent our quote and proposal the next business day. Their prices were pretty reasonable and they even told us we didn't have to go with the most expensive option. 2 weeks later, they came in, got the job done (neat and quick)and fixed the pipes free. I am happy with their service and I feel even happier now breathing dust free air!"

"We had some issues with our furnace and wanted to find a company to take a look at it. Although we have lived in our home for 23 years, this was the first time our furnace needed professional service and we had nowhere to turn. I did some research on Yelp and found "A Degree Above." I was greatly impressed by their uniformly positive reviews as well as by the fact that they are based in our town, so decided to give them a try.

My wife called at 7 am and reached Lou, the co-owner. We were impressed that someone actually answered the phone, rather than the usual routine of reaching voicemail and getting called back hours...or days...later (if at all). Lou said that he could be at our home at 9:30 am.(amazing turnaround time). He arrived right on time.

Lou did a complete inspection, cleaning and maintenance of our furnace. Because he wanted the time to do the job thoroughly, he suggested to my wife that he return later that day to do the cleaning in a thorough way. He was meticulous in cleaning a furnace that had not been cleaned in at least 25 years. In addition to his professional work, what was especially appreciated was his courtesy in answering our questions and his honesty in not recommending any unnecessary work. Plus the bill was beyond reasonable for the work performed.

"Have a 2 year old Crown Boiler installed by WeatherBusters. Wanted it serviced before the season started. Called them & got the A Degree Above #. Called & took a chance that the installer that I was happy with would be on the call. Turns out my hunch was right. Daniel & his partner Louis, the owners of A Degree Above former installers of Weatherbusters, showed up right on time. Cleaned my boiler & prepped it for usage. Great service, nice people. To bad they have to take the rap for their former employer's greed. Use them with confidence."

"Lou is honest, caring, and really knows what he's doing. We came back from vacation to a broken heater downstairs. Annoying but not terrible since we could hang out upstairs. He came the very next day and found a broken value. Easy fix and while he was here he pointed out a few things that should be replaced and were not to code and would eventually need to be replaced. All was good until the next day we realized our upstairs heat didn't work now. My husband who wasn't there the previous day when Lou came by was so annoyed asking me what sort of person did I hire. Lou came back and figured out we barely had any water in our baseboard system. He added a new thing that made sure we had the proper amt of water and filled/replaced all 3 of our separate heating systems. The stuff that drained out was black and gross. He fixed our heat for an incredibly reasonable price and this is the best it's worked since we moved in back in 2006. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs his help. Thank you Lou! :D"

Purchasing a home can be very stressful but A Degree Aboves technician put us at ease. He was very thorough and explained every component on both the AC and furnace unit that was having issues. They were able to provide a quote to us that will allow negotiations to occur with the sellers. We will definitely be using them once the home is closed and we can proceed with repairs. I've used Degree Above multiple times since I bought my home. I'm very pleased with the service from start to finish. They always try to come ASAP, frequently the same day. The guys take the time to explain what the problem is and your options. When they saw that I was knowledgeable and handy, they even advised me to try and diagnose simple fixes prior to calling them which showed me they care about their customers and not just making a buck. If I could give 10 or more stars to A Degree Above Heating & Cooling, I would. They've been servicing our AC and heating units for the last 4 years and just when I thought I couldn't be happier with their service, they go way above and beyond. On Sunday our AC stopped working. I called them Monday morning and around 2pm the technicians were here. They diagnosed the problem, ordered a new motor and today (Tuesday) the owner plus another technician showed up to replace the motor. Mind you, it was pouring and windy when they showed up but they worked thru it and within a hour or so our AC was up and running. I just couldn't believe how dedicated they are to their customers. Lou and his team are honest, fair, knowledgeable, very professional and simply exceptional...they listen to the customers and truly care. We called as first-time customers with our AC fan not working and an idea of what the problem might be (having seen similar symptoms years ago), and scheduled an appointment. Later the same day we got an email and a call back asking if we were at home and a repairman could visit *soon*. Lou showed up, did some evaluation, replaced the starter capacitor, explained what he had done - with photos - and now all's right with the world. Responsive, adaptable, good use of technology and communication to stay in touch with the customer, nice guy showing up to do the work, and all working well - everything we could ask of a repair service. Great prompt service was able to get to us last minute on a really hot day just before a holiday weekend!! Guys were polite(Matt and Rich) and seemed very honest they did their job quickly and professionally! The girl (I think her name was Erin) was very nice getting us in last minute. And their prices were not very expensive considering it was also a last minute emergency did not charge any extra fee just a normal service call price $99.99 which is about normal!

I used A Degree Above about five year ago and was impressed with their professionalism and honesty. When my central ac had problems again, I didn't hesitate to call them. I contacted A Degree Above to inspect the HVAC system before I bought my home and they recommended some items to do. I waited until the spring when it got hot to call them back. Their communication is top notch, which is always the hardest part. Setting up an appointment was so simple and easy. Mr.Borgonos arrived on time and was very professional. He had a mask on with gloves and also wore booties before walking into my house. He then gave me tips on how to maintain my system as well. GREAT SERVICE!
